Medlab Central Limited is based in the central North Island of New Zealand. There are four centres in the group: Hawkes Bay, Gisborne, Palmerston North, and Whanganui.
The Palmerston North, Gisborne and Whanganui laboratories are located in their respective local public hospitals and provide laboratory services to both community and hospital patients. Palmerston North Hospital is also the regional referral centre for oncology patients in the lower central North Island.
There are a total of seven full-time and part-time Pathologists in the Medlab Central group, comprising two Histopathologists, two Haematologists, one Microbiologist, and one Chemical Pathologist. We also have four Pathology Registrars. There are over 350 staff members in the Medlab Central laboratory group (including part-time staff).
